Machar's father died in the war. His mother and older brother lives in
Malakal. "I heard about the school here and that there are orphans, so
I came here. I was staying with a relative at the time. I came here on
foot."
Machar likes learning. "If I have a good education, I'll have a better
life," he says. "I want to be a doctor."
When he's not in school, he likes to take care of the goats at the
children's home.
